An award-winning anchor and correspondent for CNN, Kristie Lu Stout is a Hong Kong-based journalist. She is nationally known for her fierce yet divine work and reporting adroitness.
Kristie was even active during the Hong Kong extradition bill protests, North Korea’s advancing weapons tests, New Zealand terror attacks, and the aftermath of the major storms in HK.
For her commendable work, Kristie got awarded the Best News or Current Affairs Presenter at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2018. Meanwhile, her show New Stream, launched in 2010, also got awarded the Best News Program.
Kristie Lu Stout’s Bio And Family
Kristie was born on 7 December 1974 in Philadelphia; however, she was raised in Silicon Valley. She is the daughter of a European-American father and her mother is Taiwanese. The TV journalist also has a sister in her mixed-ethnic family.
As for her education, Kristie attended Stanford University and got a graduate with a Master’s in Communication in 1997. Later in the 1990s, she moved to China and studied advanced Pitonghua at Beijing’s Tsinghua University.
Growing up, Kristie had the desire to be a journalist. At the time, she was 17 and an undergraduate at Stanford University. As an undergraduate, she even worked for The Stanford Daily newspaper as well as for KZSU. Also, she did the job of freelancing for 10 cents a word.
Later, in 1996, she began her first official job at Wired magazine as an editorial intern. And, she later moved to China where she worked at an internet site called Sohu alongside her academics at Beijing’s Tsinghua University.
Long-time after working in Sohu, in 2000, Kristie gave a speech about the internet in China at the Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents’ Club, where a senior producer of the American new- based channel, CNN was present. He asked her to be a guest and offered him a career in television. In 2001, she appeared as a television and dot-com reporter for the news channel, CNN.
Kristie Lu Stout Husband & Married Details
Kristie got married to Malaysian-Chinese attorney Seung Chong on 1 September 2001. Her husband, Seung, is a leading M&A lawyer with around 25 years of experience in inbound and outbound transactions.
As of now, the pair reside in Hong Kong and are content with their family.
Together, Kristie and Seung are parents to their daughter named Arabella, who was born on 29 September 2009.
